Model-Specific Notes: • T-Series (e.g., T1600/T2600): Check the service station for any obstructions that might prevent the carriage from docking or undocking. Ensure the carriage trailing cable is not snagged. • Z-Series (e.g., Z6800/Z9+): These models have more complex service stations. Ensure the printhead cleaner assembly is not jammed. The carriage lock mechanism is often solenoid-driven. • Legacy Models (e.g., 1050c/5500): Check the carriage belt tension and condition. A worn belt can cause the carriage to bind. Expert Insight: With the printer off and unplugged, thoroughly inspect the entire carriage path, including the service station area. Use a flashlight to look for small debris. If the carriage is manually movable, check the encoder strip for damage or dirt. Clean it gently with a lint-free cloth and distilled water. If the carriage is completely locked, the issue might be with the carriage motor or its associated drive electronics. For models with a solenoid-driven lock, check the solenoid's functionality and its connections to the main PCA. A common issue is the carriage trailing cable becoming frayed or damaged, leading to intermittent communication or power issues to the carriage components.
