I'mEN: Fix problem for (Error:81:01/11): Check/Clean/Replace Disk Encoder (Error:56:10/13): Check/Clean/Replace Drive ...
The scanner carriage motor encountered an obstruction or failed to move freely along its axis. This prevents the scanner from performing any operations.
- 1
Turn the printer off and disconnect the power cord.
- 2
Carefully open the scanner lid and inspect the scanner path for any foreign objects, paper jams, or debris that might be blocking the scanner carriage.
- 3
Gently try to move the scanner carriage by hand (if it moves freely) to check for resistance. Reconnect power and turn on the printer.
Model-Specific Notes: • T-Series MFP (T850/T950/T2600): Pay close attention to the small plastic gears and belt tension. Ensure the scanner rail is clean and lightly lubricated with a non-acidic, plastic-safe lubricant if dry. Expert Insight: After disconnecting power, manually move the scanner carriage. If it feels stiff or grinds, check the belt for fraying or misalignment. Inspect the motor pulley and the encoder strip for damage or dirt. A faulty encoder strip or sensor can cause the motor to lose its position, triggering this error. Measure the motor's resistance and check for continuity if suspected to be faulty.
