The printer's internal network interface card (NIC) has failed or is experiencing a critical error. This prevents the printer from connecting to the network, rendering network printing and web services unavailable.
- 1
Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord.
- 2
Disconnect the Ethernet cable from the printer.
- 3
Wait for 60 seconds, then reconnect the power cord and turn on the printer.
- 4
Once the printer has booted, reconnect the Ethernet cable. Check the network status from the control panel. If the error persists, try a different Ethernet cable or network port.
Model-Specific Notes: • PageWide XL (e.g., XL 3900): These printers often have dedicated network diagnostics. Check the network card's status LEDs for activity and link status. Some models have redundant NICs. • T-Series (e.g., T950, T1600): If the NIC is integrated into the formatter, a formatter replacement might be necessary. Check for any available firmware updates for network stability. Expert Insight: Ping the printer's IP address (if it briefly acquires one) from a computer on the same network. Use a network cable tester to verify cable integrity. Check the switch port the printer is connected to for issues. If the NIC is a separate module, try re-seating it. For integrated NICs, a formatter replacement is often the only solution if all other network troubleshooting fails. Verify that the printer's network settings (IP, subnet, gateway) are correctly configured, even if it's an auto-configuration issue.
