This error indicates a problem with the Ink Supply Station (ISS), which is responsible for delivering ink from the cartridges to the printheads. A failure here can prevent ink from reaching the printheads, leading to print quality issues or complete printing stoppage.
- 1
Turn off the printer and unplug it.
- 2
Open the ink cartridge cover and ensure all ink cartridges are properly seated and not empty.
- 3
Close the cover, plug in the printer, and turn it on.
- 4
If the error persists, there might be a mechanical or electrical issue within the ISS, requiring professional service.
Model-Specific Notes: • T-Series (e.g., T795/T1300): The ISS is often located on the right side of the printer, behind the ink cartridge bay. Check for any visible ink leaks around the tubes or pump assembly. • Z-Series (e.g., Z5600/Z6200): These models often have a more complex ISS. Verify that the ink tubes are not crimped or pinched. Sometimes, a specific ink color's supply line can be the culprit. Expert Insight: Access the service diagnostics to test the ISS pump motors and pressure sensors. Listen for pump operation. Check the ISS flex cable connection to the main board. A common failure is the pump diaphragm or motor. If there's an ink leak, identify its source immediately to prevent further damage. Ensure the air pressure system within the ISS (if applicable) is functioning to prevent cavitation.

The component that deposits ink onto the media. DesignJet printers use thermal inkjet printheads that fire tiny droplets of ink through microscopic nozzles.
A maintenance area on the right side of the printer where the printheads are capped and cleaned when not in use. It prevents ink from drying in the nozzles.
A replaceable cartridge that collects excess ink from printhead cleaning cycles, spitting, and other maintenance operations.
A calibration process that ensures all printheads are precisely aligned relative to each other for accurate color registration and sharp output.
When the printhead physically contacts the media surface during printing, potentially damaging both the print and the printhead.
A print mode where the printhead deposits ink in both directions of travel (left-to-right and right-to-left), doubling print speed compared to uni-directional printing.
