The backlight for the printer's touch panel display has failed, resulting in a dark or unreadable screen, even though the printer may still be operational.

Turn the printer off and disconnect the power cord.

Wait for 60 seconds, then reconnect the power cord and turn the printer on.

If the screen remains dark, try adjusting the display brightness settings from the front panel if you can navigate it blindly, or through the Embedded Web Server (EWS) if network access is available.
Model-Specific Notes: • T-Series (T1700/T1708): The backlight is often integrated into the LCD panel. Replacement usually means replacing the entire display assembly. • PageWide XL: These larger displays may have separate backlight units. Check the power connection to the backlight inverter board. Expert Insight: Use a multimeter to check the voltage supply to the backlight circuit on the display board. If voltage is present but no light, the LED backlight strip or the inverter circuit is likely faulty. If no voltage, trace back to the formatter board. A quick test is to shine a bright flashlight at the screen; if you can faintly see the UI, the backlight is confirmed to be the issue, not the display data itself.
