Is your HP printer showing a Printhead Problem error? Don't rush to buy a replacement — in this video, I'll show you 7 easy fixes ...
This error indicates that one or more printheads are overheating. This can be caused by a faulty printhead, insufficient ink flow, or a problem with the printer's cooling system.
- 1Defective printhead
- 2Insufficient ink flow to printhead
- 3Faulty carriage PCA
- 4High ambient temperature
- 5Blocked ink nozzles
- Printer unable to print
- Print quality degradation (streaks, missing colors)
- Printer shuts down unexpectedly
- Error message on display identifying printhead
- Printheads feel excessively hot to touch (after power off)
- 1
Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord.
- 2
Allow the printer to cool down for at least 30 minutes.
- 3
Check all ink cartridges to ensure they are properly inserted and not empty.
- 4
Plug in the printer and turn it on. If the error persists, try replacing the problematic printhead identified on the display.
Always ensure the printer is in a well-ventilated area. Using non-HP or refilled ink can sometimes lead to overheating due to inconsistent ink properties. If only one printhead is overheating, it's highly likely that printhead itself is faulty.
